Sinful Colors Song of Summer & ORLY Coachella Dweller Comparison

I recently received Sinful Colors - Song of Summer in the #surfsupvoxbox and thought that it seemed incredibly similar to ORLY - Coachella Dweller, so I decided to do a comparison!

As you can see above the two polishes are practically the same, I’d say there was maybe a half shade difference between them. Nothing significant though. Coachella Dweller had a thinner and more sheer formula and needed 3 coats to become opague and non streaky. Song of Summer only needed two coats.

I don’t believe Coachella Dweller is sold in stores anymore, so if you missed out on that one I suggest buying Song of Summer.

Reusing a Glitter Gradient

I was feeling lazy and didn’t want to take off a glitter polish. So, instead of taking off the glitter I just patched the nails up and added a pretty red hued coral to the rest of my nails and added a gold glitter dot to them.

To patch up the glitter nails I took a small glob of polish and repainted the free edge to hide any chips and tip wear. Once that was dry I painted a thin coat of glitter to the entire nail. That hid the extra polish at the tips as well as covered up the new nail growth near the cuticle.

Fox Nail Art

I started off with a base of OPI - My Vampire is Buff (adore this color!) on all fingers but the ring finger and thumb. For the remaining fingers I painted on two coats of OPI - My Favorite Ornament.

I then proceeded to do the dry brush technique on the MViB nails using Revlon Colorstay - Trade Winds and Zoya - Flynn. I wanted it to look a bit wood grainy but I went in a bit too heavy handed for that. It still creates an awesome effect though!

Next I went in with white acrylic paint, which was a new experience for me. I used the white paint to make the vines and leaves. I typically mess things like that up so I thought I'd try the paint this time so that if I messed up I could just wash it off. That sort of worked. Sort of.

I filled in the vines with ORLY - Coachella Dweller and the leaves with Sally Hansen Magnetic - Electric Emerald and Pure Ice - Creme Wild Thing. I then just dotted on simple flowers with a Utes nail polish and Wet N Wild - Sunny Side Up. I dotted those in the middle with My Vampire is Buff.

I painted a fox on my middle finger. I love this fox but it's a bit different from the fox in my inspiration. I attempted the fox from my inspiration but it ended badly.

Anyway, I've blabbered on enough. Here's the photo of my inspiration. It is a card filled with cute little sticky notes. I have a feeling I'll be using this item for more inspiration in the future.

ORLY Matte FX - Purple Velvet

I really like this ORLY Matte FX in Purple Velvet. It's such a pretty purple. The only problem with it being matte is that once it dries all the shimmers in it become almost unnoticeable. To see the shimmers you'd have to add a shiny topcoat. I might have to try it out soon.

The formula was not self leveling either. So, if you do choose to wear this color you have to smoothly and evenly apply the polish. I didn't do this properly on my left hand and it looks all bumpy and weird.

Thank You Post

(This post is WAY overdue. I’ve had the ‘Thank Yous’ written and the pictures laying around since the end of March. I’ve just been incredibly slow in getting the rest of it written and posted.)
'Ello, everyone! Today, instead of posting nails, I'll be showing off my giveaway prizes I won from the ColorMeSoCrazy’s 1000 Follower Make Me Pretty Giveaway as well as saying a BIG, BIG thank you to the lovely ladies who provided the goodies for my prize pack.
First off, congratulations to ColorMeSoCrazy on getting herself 1000 followers! She works hard for her blog and certainly deserves all the love she gets. Go show her some more!
Next up, a humongous thank you to Elizabeth from Polished Petite! She was the main sponsor for my prize and I love everything that she provided. And my sister loved the extra candy she provided. Haha. Anyway, I’ll be going into more detail about the gifts down below. In the meantime, go check her out!
The last person I have to thank is Donna from Working Girl Nails and Sweet Baby. She provided a couple items from her shop. I’ve been using  the cuticle oil she sent before taking photos, holy crab apples, it smells SO FREAKING GOOD. I could just sit around breathing this stuff in for hours. I won’t. But it’s tempting. Mmm, creamy pumpkin. Ahem, onto the links! Go buy some cuticle oil from her and let me know if it’s as heavenly as the one I was sent.
Now onto the prizes!

(Please ignore the showing lightbox.)

These colors are gorgeous and aside from Visions of Love, they are unique to my collection. I’ve used My Favorite Ornament on my toes and they were so sparkly. I don’t usually stare at my feet but while wearing that polish I kept making excuses to peek at them. I have yet to use Visions of Love or I Snow you Love Me.

This cuticle oil smells amazing. Not only does it smell amazing but it also sinks into the skin quickly making it the ideal cuticle oil to use before taking photos. That is important for me since I like to paint my nails and take a photo immediately after they’ve dried. I don’t want to be waiting around for cuticle oil to sink in! I recently ran out of my EOS so I’ve started using the Green Tea Lip Balm and let me just say it is so moisturizing. It also stays on the lips for hours, even through eating and drinking. The only thing I don’t like about it is the smell/taste. But that’s not important.
image
This little Modella Round Top Bag is really cute, I adore the pattern on it! I haven’t used it yet but I think it’ll be perfect for toting around nail supplies if a friend wants their nails painted or I go on vacation. But it could be used for anything that requires a small bag.
image
This brush has become my go-to detail clean up brush. I used to use my Kolinsky England brush exclusively but now I’m only using it to clean up the big messes. I highly recommend this little ELF brush!
image
This little set came at the perfect time. I was about to go onto Amazon and buy a set of curved nail clippers as the rest of my curved nail clippers were super dull and my good quality clippers have a straight edge. The clippers in this set are sharp and make rounded nail maintenance much less of a hassle. I haven’t tried the rest of the tools in the set.

Who doesn’t love candy? Reese’s are the bomb and I admit that it disappeared into my gut soon after I saw it. It was a hardship not to eat it before I took a hasty picture! Haha. My lil’ sister helped me out with the rest of candy. NOM.

Sock Manicure

Inspired by socks! Yes, socks! That lovely pair that is seen above. I just had to put these on my nails and the way I decided to do it was to do a half moon using NOPI Pros & Confidence and then do each pattern on each hand.

I’m loving this mismatched look!

Owlicious

The 31 Day Challenge

Day 30 - Inspired by: A Tutorial (cindy blogs nails: Nail Art: Owl + Tutorial)

Those owl eyes stare into your soul. I tried to get fancy with my owls and make them watercolor owls…but I failed horribly. I am happy with this though!

butter LONDON - Slapper

I just spent nearly two hours trying to take a color accurate photo of Butter London Slapper. I give up. This is the best it’s going to be.
It is a wonderful color though. In person, the shade is a tad darker and is much more of a teal green. The color of my watermarks is a much closer match to the true color.
Shown here is 3 thin coats.

Ripped Flesh

The 31 Day Challenge

Day 29 - Inspired by: The Supernatural (ZOMBIES)

This picture looks so professional. ♥ I’m proud of myself. I also want to give a big shout out to Will Paint Nails for Food! This lovely lady had a series of tutorials over on her blog called the Beginning Blogger’s Bootcamp. I stumbled upon it last week and I love how simple it is.

Now back to the nails, eh? These are for the inspired by the supernatural prompt. As I’m currently watching Season 3 of the Walking Dead I thought I’d look up some other zombie nails and I came across a tutorial for RIPPED FLESH nails. They gross me out so much and yet they also look awesome.

Happy Valentine’s Day ;*

Sinful Colors - 24/7

This color was SO difficult to photograph. Even now it’s showing up darker than it actually is in person. The trouble with neons I suppose.

I didn’t die either! Which is a good thing. While I had these on my nails a week ago I haven’t been on my laptop (which is where all my photos and such are) for the past week. Soooo….yup.

Glacier Water Marble

I’m going to an Ice Castle tomorrow for day 3 of my 19th Birthday celebration (nothing was going to plan so my parents have spread things out a bit, haha) so I thought a water marble would be perfect for the location.

They didn’t work out completely as planned but I love how they turned out anyway.

Essie - Ballet Slippers

Taking a break from nail art with this pretty pallet cleanser. Essie’s Ballet Slippers is such a great milky pink.

31DC13 Day 27 - Peacock Painting

31 Day Challenge

Day 27 - Inspired by: Artwork (This painting of a peacock in my home.)

These took longer to do than I’d like to admit. Haha.

Also loosely inspired by a look by MrCandiipants, distressed nails by Chalkboard Nails, and a tutorial by Nailed it NZ. All of them are amazing.

Oh! I almost forgot. HAPPY 2014!
